Is it possible for a person (women mainly) to get migraines purely because of a hormone imbalance every month?

I have had blood tests done which came back clear, I’ve had eye tests to rule that out, I’ve kept food diaries… Nothing seems to give an answer, plus any meds I’ve been given do nothing for my migraine at all!

Any advice on how to deal with this? It is resulting in me missing 2 or 3 days at a time at work and it’s really starting to get me down and my bosses are askign all kinds of questions but i have no real answers for them as I don’t know the cause.

I’ve tried honey, which seems to take the edge off, but seriously does nothing more than that!

I was up all night nearly on Mon in agony before i finally fell asleep through exhaustion more than anything else!
I’ve tried loads of pills and stuck with Cilest for over a year but I was still getting the migraines.

I get them without the pill too. It’s a no win situation!

I had lots of problems with hormone-triggered migraines as well (aka menstrual migraine). My doc recommended loestrin 24 FE and that did the trick. There are 3 more active pills than most normal birth control pills and those 3 pills gradually lower your hormone level. My doc thought that it was the sudden drop-off of hormones that was causing my migraines. Migraine-free since I made the change. Ask your doctor to try it! Good luck!
