thyroid hormone replacement therapy
Is my thyroid causing my lack of sex drive?

I’m 22 years old and a full time college student, graduating in the Spring. I have been dating the same guy for 4 and a half years and I love him to death. I’ve had horrible anxiety for the past two years, to the point where I have wanted to die. Also, my libido is basically gone. I have no interest in sex and I just do it to make him happy. But it honestly does nothing for me. I went to to the doctor last week and he said that my thyroid is twice as large as it should be and that I may have Hashimoto’s disease. My question is, do people with this condition go back to feeling normal once they get on the hormone replacement therapy? I am just so upset and feel like my world is falling apart. This is the person I want to marry but I don’t think the relationship will last if we keep going on like this. I just want to know if I will get better. Any answers are appreciated.

Yes your thyroid is causing you to have a lack of a sex drive. I have Hashimoto’s and I also have absolutely no sex drive. I am on hormone replacement therapy and it as helped regulate me somewhat but it is a slow process and it might take a couple of years to get you adjusted to the right dosage. Just be patient and you will get there. I hope this helps.
