You need to talk with your doctor!

I would be happy to answer your question! I am currently a pharmacy student. You can look at the references below to see where I got my information.

Short stature can be caused by a few different things. A few common reasons could be the heights of your parents, being low in a hormone called somatropin (or growth hormone), or even certain other health conditions. How well HGH works will depend on the cause. If you have a low amount of growth hormone in your body, then getting an injection of that hormone will cause a great height jump. However, if there are other reasons behind your stature, then you may need higher doses and it may not be as likely to get a huge height increase. For example, if you have a long family history of short statured people and you are not low on growth hormone, it is not likely you will be able to reach a height of 6’3”.

It is also important to remember that growth happens during different times for different people. Usually a person’s last growth spurt occurs around the time of puberty. Since everybody goes through puberty at different times, this growth spurt will also happen at different times. After a person has a growth spurt, they will usually continue to grow (at a slow rate) until the skeleton reaches adult maturity (which normally doesn’t happen by the time someone is 17). Growth can continue into your 20’s.

Human growth hormone is only available through a prescription from your doctor and is only available as an injection. You will need to go to a doctor anyways so that they can figure out the cause of your height issue. Many times, you will need to find a doctor that specializes in this type of medicine. They may be able to set up to give you the injection at the doctor’s office, or they may write a prescription so you can get it filled at a local pharmacy. There are many different names and manufactures that make human growth hormone. Some names you might see are Genotropin®; Humatrope®; Norditropin®; Nutropin AQ®; Omnitrope®; or Saizen®.

Unfortunately, these injections are expensive. Most dosing is weight based. Assuming you are around 140lbs, a month supply would be anywhere from about $600.00 to $900.00 per month at first. If this dose does not work, they would have to increase you to a higher dose which would potentially cost even more. If you have insurance, they may be willing to pay part of this. You can call the customer service number on the back of your card or go online to their website for more details.

Hope this helps!!
