Trans* question: How soon can one begin hormone replacement therapy?

I’m 15 and FTM; while I’ve deeply considered saving up and buying T online, I’m figuring it wouldn’t be very legal and/or safe. I’m planning on starting therapy with Dr. Graham L. Peveller (I’ve heard only decent things about the guy) when I have a steady job, which will probably be sometime after I’m 16.

I live in Alabama, if it makes a difference. At what age can I start HRT (with parental consent)?
Also, this has always interested me: Once you get a letter for hormones, do you go to a health department and get your shots there? (Are testosterone and estrogen common “medications”?)

I know at 15 you can start estrogen blockers. I think and am pretty sure at 16 you can start hormone replacement. You are wise to have medical help with this. Doing this with out being monitored is playing russian roulette with your life. Not just physically but mentally as well. Once a therapist clears you for HRT, you would then go to a doctor for medication. It really depends, some psychiatrists working in “gender specific” therapy have prescribed HRT., there is one in NJ and a few in NY that I know like that. Some are setting up a “one stop shop” Once prescribed, you can get them at any local drug store. It is not uncommon.
