night shift worker and my insomnia is changing my whole life, any ideas to help? just starting menopause, btw?

I get done between1am and 2 am, but for the past three months can’t get to sleep till nearly noon. And I ache everywhere. I have tons of energy between midnight and 10am…but, I need this energy between 3pm and 1am. I sit before a computer til I am finished work. Can computer light induce pain and insomnia? I can’t make plans even for my days off, I am a zombie all day and evening.

Thanks. I’ve tried melatonin, doesn’t help. I do lots of caffeine but only because I can’t function at work without it.

I am late 40′s, beginning menopause. Could this be it? For health reasons I can’t do hormone replacement therapy. Some days, it feels like I’m having chemo..THAT tired, beyond tired.

Help?
I am posting this here since the womens health forum gets so little advice from older women. I hope to hear some words of wisdom from ladies who have been thru the change, as I do suspect this is hormonal, at least in part.

This is what I take and it help with sleep. No Alcohol in take.

for sweating:
Evening PrimRose 2 grams in the morning noon and before bed 10:00 pm
Black Cohosh 40 mg twice a day morning and night
Maca 500 mg tablets 2 in the morning (Never at Night will cause insomnia

for sleep:
melatonin take two 5 mg at night
L-Theanine take two 100 mg at night
Valerian take two 200 mg at night
Hops take two 300 mg at night

This has been working for me and once I was over the worst of it I cut back on the Maca unless I really needed it.

Take Care and I hope the herbs that worked for me work for you too
