Hi -
I had a partial hysterectomy 4 years ago. They left one ovary so I could avoid Hormone replacement therapy. I am now 42, I have bipolar and I have recovered from a double mastectomy. I am either irritable or depressed. How can I tell when menapause will rear it’s ugly head?
Hi again -
I guesss what I am trying to ask is how can I tell if I am going through it? I don’t have periods anymore so it’s going to be terribly hard to monitor. Thanks
The most common symptoms of menopause (apart from the variation/stoppage of your periods) are hot flashes and vaginal dryness/tenderness. Your doctor can also perform a simple blood test for estradiol or FSH… decreased levels of estradiol or increasing FSH indicate menopause.
