if my testicles were removed before male to female hormone replacment therapy, will there be quicker results?

There are pluses and minuses to doing an orchiectomy.

You’ll be able to take lower doses of estrogen as you’re body won’t have battling hormones.

You won’t have to take anti-androgens anymore (usually) and you’ll save money that way.

Some states will accept that as being enough to legally change your sex on your driver’s license.

The BIG disadvantage is shrinkage. People who have an orchiectomy can have major shrinkage of the donor material and most require a skin graft to obtain adequate depth during SRS.

Also depending on how the orchie was done the donor material may be scarred leading again to a greater chance of needing a skin graft. Although some surgeons use an abdominal approach that leaves the donor material intact.

My advice is NOT to get an orchiectomy unless it’s going to be more than 5 years until you can get your SRS. Plus orchiectomies run about $2,000. Isn’t that money better put towards SRS?

Hope this helps.

I would join an on-line support group so you can avoid all the ignorant resposes you’ll find here.
