Period lasting for 2 weeks…Serious Answers Please (older women, gynos)?
my mother is 43 years old. she has had her period for 2 weeks now without it getting any less…i mean, she said that its still bright red and also still very very heavy. She said she has passed a few blood clots too.
she knows she’s at the age of starting menopause but doesn’t know what to expect. she doesn’t go to the doctor very often…like hardly ever because she has a 2,000 dollar deductable for her insurance and money is tight. so i dont think she will any time soon, unless it seems to be an emergency.
my questions; is the 2 weeks bleeding so heavy normal with the bright red blood and blood clots? does she need hormone replacement therapy? are there any good natural ways to replace therapy? are there any natural ways she can ease her period? im very scared for her and need advise from anyone who knows.
thank you in advance =]
I’m not a doctor but I may be able to ease your mind a bit. It may seem like a lot of blood but likely it’s not she does need to watch for loss of iron or becoming anemic but it really may just be her body getting ready for the change. I bled one time for three weeks and I’m talking super tampons every couple of hours and my body just worked it’s way thru it. On the other hand she may have fibroids or cysts which can cause bleeding but usually with discomfort. I really feel for you guys in the states hopefully your universal health care will come soon
