Ladies who know about the Cilest and Microgynon contraceptive pills?
I’m having trouble deciding which pill to go on. Last year i was on microgynon for only a few months to regulate my period, i had no side effects other than i felt a little bloated, my breasts grew a cup size and i strangely had what felt like period pains every now and then.
i went to go back on the pill two weeks ago and was offered Cilest, because my nurse advised it for younger women like me. i refused, because microgynon was ok for me, however, ive started to notice i’m a little hairier and bloated. i hate this feeling, so i want to know if cilest will work better for me? ive heard cilest contains more oestrogen which apparantly reduces hair?

The better option is Microgynon, it’s a second generation, lower dose oestrogen Pill which typically causes less serious side effects and there is less risk of thrombosis. The Nurse isn’t really correct, there is no set of Pills for younger women.
Side effects are usually noticed more in the first 1-2 month of starting the Pill, then settle down.
